Alpine Ascents Schools

The Alpine Ascents Mountaineering School (AAMS), operating in the North Cascades, the Alaska Range and on Mount Rainier, consists of highly specialized training courses designed for individuals who desire to become competent alpinists. It is widely considered the finest alpine climbing program offered in the United States. For over ten years, Alpine Ascents has assisted climbers in developing their alpine mountaineering skills with outstanding success. Our intensive programs will increase students’ climbing expertise while allowing time to enjoy the splendors of the surrounding mountain wilderness. Many of our AAMS graduates have gone on to become excellent climbers. In fact eight former students have participated in Mt. Everest ascents. Some of the greatest compliments Alpine Ascents has received have come not only from our students, but from guides throughout the climbing community, who are “thrilled to have former students” as their climbing partners.

I did enjoy the course. Outdoors activities, and particularly mountaineering, are very new to me, so I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the course. I feel that the course gave me a good foundation from which I can either pursue more climbing, or from which I can pursue more training now that I understand what sorts of things I need to know.

Wind resistant, water resistant, and breathable, […]
